USS BOSTON Sail and Rudder Co, Ltd. or Is there life after your boat gets scrapped?
I served in the Navy, a plankowner aboard the USS BOSTON (SSN-703) Decommissioned in 1999 and scrapped in 2002. Now I find myself in the unique cradle-to-grave position of helping to care for its remains at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park. All that really remain are the sail and rudder shipped here in 2003 along with a few cleats. I feel like I'm caring for a vessel that met a premature and untimely demise. Now I care for her remains. ...Sort of.

You know, I have a Philosophy on humor...
...No really, I do! I think humor can and should be funny, but without being demeaning or insulting to another person. It's okay to walk that fine line between humor and sarcasm, but try not to cross that line too often. It's okay to make fun at yourself, but not at the expense of another person.
Keeping it funny and "Clean" is more of a challenge then cheap and dirty humor as that is not nearly as clever either!
...In laughter, or in sorrow,
It's humor that redeems.
The spirit of that moment,
Our laughter and our dreams!
So many go through life,
Compounding with interest, just misery and strife,
Dressed in emotional armor,
Anger follows them like a dark cloud in their life,
How dreadful life might be,
With only these cloud‑filled skies,
Yet humor like the sun shines through,
Beams piercing through this sad disguise,
Yet life would be dull and dreary,
Without these pleasant charms...
In times of conflict or, in peace,
It's humor that disarms...

On track for another 5K Run!
Okay, so I tend to over-train for these things...sure, it's only 3.1 miles and perhaps I went out this morning and ran about 6 miles to train for this weekend, then walked another 4 miles (just for good measure) but isn't that what over-achieving is all about? Afterall, I don't want to look like a "whoss" when I get out there! ....did I spell that right?

Oh No! Now I've REALLY put my foot into it (Again!)
So as you know, I've just finished this bike ride and now my younger son wants me to run in a five kilometer foot race which raises money towards research! He convinced me to sign-up for a race called "The Jog For Jake 2006" ...guys, you can click on it to find more information!
Only this time I only have a week to get ready for the run!! ...What do they think I am, "Super Dad"???

Hot and Steamy June has come!
Okay, so it's been a while since I posted, but I've been busier then a bee in late spring with everything! For the Memorial day weekend i took a few extra days off and went camping/canoeing up north in a wilderness park up north in Canada (Algonquin Park) which is deep in "hockey country" speaking about hockey, how about them Buffalo Sabres!! They will be playing Game Seven in the conference finals tonight and I've always taken the philosophical approach in that may the best team win (which I hope will be the Sabres!)
